How to audit your AI visibility in 10 minutes

How to audit your AI visibility in 10 minutes

The diagnostic before the strategy

Most teams jump straight to tactics — "let's rewrite our pricing page", "let's pitch a podcast" — without first measuring where they stand. That's how you spend a quarter writing FAQ schema and never realise your real problem is sitting on r/yoursubreddit.

The four checks every AI visibility audit should run

1. Direct recall

For each major AI engine (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity), ask: "What does {your brand} do?" If at least three of four engines give a substantive, accurate answer, you have baseline brand recall. If they hedge with "I'm not familiar with…", you have an authority gap to close.

2. Category leadership

Now ask the category query a buyer would actually type: "Best {your category} for {your audience}". If you're not in the first 5 names the AI lists, you have a positioning gap. If you're not in the first 10, you have a presence gap.

3. Citation source mapping

Ask the AI engines a few open-ended research questions in your niche. Pay attention to which domains appear as citations. Those are the sources moving the AI's answer for your category — placements in those domains directly buy you future visibility.

4. Negative-citation sweep

Search "{your brand} review", "{your brand} reddit", "{your brand} complaint". Anything you find here, AI engines have found too. One viral negative thread can sink your sentiment score across every engine for six months.

The shortcut

Rankply automates all four checks in a single run, gives you per-engine breakdowns, and surfaces the highest-impact fixes ranked by effort vs lift. The first audit is free.
